VIENNA
If you ask someone who live in Vienna, which is their favourite park, we are sure they will say Stadtpark. This park was founded in 1862 so it is one of the oldest parks in this capital. The park has an extension of 65.000 m2 and it includes a big quantity of vegetal species.
Vienna is the capital of Austria and, at the time, its cultural, politic and economic centre. This city is situated on the northeast of the country and it has one of the most cultural potential in Europe. UNESCO declared the “historic centre of Vienna” as a World Heritage Site because this represents many important values.
Stadtpark
One of the most important places (and more photographed too) in the park is the Johann Strauss’s monument. It consists on a golden statue opened in 1867. This statue try to pay tribute to one of the most important violinists around the world.
Ringstrasse
Ringstrasse is a circular avenue that circle Vienna’s centre. This avenue takes in many of the most significant architectural constructions in the city. In consideration, it is a street very attractive and pleasant to walk, and to visit the historic works in the capital.
This avenue appeared since the wall that was in the same place that Ringstrasse nowadays was knocked down, in order to grow up the city. Currently in Ringstrasse, there are many famous buildings: Real Hofburg Palace, City Council, Stock Exchange, Parliament, Burgtheater, Votive Church, University, Art’s History’s Museum and Natural History’s Museum.
Strauss memories
The next one is not a tangible thing, but famous around the world. We are talking about the unmistakable New year’s concert by the classical Wiener Philharmoniker that takes place in this city every year on the 1rst of Genuary in the Musikverein. It has to be a great experience to be in the Golden Hall while the music of Johan Strauss and its contemporaries fullfill the air, isn’t it?
But not only this event make Vienna sound different. Lots of pretty good musicians inhabit the streets of this magical city, making it one the most beautiful places to go to, in every sense. What a pleasure for your ears!
Thinking different, travelling different
But if your desire is to travel while helping, there are plenty of volunteering programs that surely will satisfy your expectations. In addition, Vienna is one of the cities included in the WOSM (world organization of the scout movement) lists, so there are lots of scout groups improving their city, with many actions you can join too if you want.
